Best Organic Hand Wash for Sensitive Skin

Best organic hand washes for the COVID-19 outbreak

For those who suffer from sensitive skin and eczema, normal hand soaps or those from ‘fake’ gentle beauty brands can irritate the skin and cause dry skin and eczema flare-ups.

I have personally experienced this – although I usually use organic hand washes, when the COVID-19 outbreak started I panicked and started using the super intense Carex hand-wash…before my eczema flared-up and I found out that ANY soap works with COVID. The harsh Carex soaps don’t actually have an advantage over any organic soap, so you’re better off sticking with organic and protecting your skin from harsh harmful chemicals that can irritate and cause dryness and eczema.

I thought it would be useful to round up my favourite organic hand soaps for eczema sufferers. There are so many out there that are suitable for all budgets and scent-preferences!

Green People Hand Wash

Green People’s neutral/scent free hand wash is brilliant for sensitive skin as it’s an ultra-gentle, PH balance hand wash. It’s certified organic (80% certified organic ingredients), cruelty free, and vegan, and free from parabens, SLS, foaming agents, Triclosan, irritating soap, essential oils or artificial fragrance. The hand wash contains soothing aloe vera, coconut, and olive so your hands won’t dry out using the product!

Balance Me Body & Hand Wash

The Balance Me Super Moisturising Body Wash isn’t a strict ‘hand wash’, but it does the same job. It’s sulphate free but naturally foaming, and contains ancient skin conditioner yarrow, and shea butter promote lasting softness for even the most sensitive skin, and hydrating dry and eczema-prone skin. Balance Me are cruelty free, vegan, and the products come in recyclable packaging!

Beauty Kitchen Hand Wash

I absolutely love Beauty Kitchen products because they come in aluminium containers that can be reused at refillable points in certain Boots stores, making them super sustainable. Obviously during the Coronavirus outbreak you won’t be able to do this, but it’ll still be useful to have the containers to keep and refill later when COVD-19 is under control. There are a few different scents, but my favourite is the Botanical Bliss – it basically smells of sweets!  The Beauty Kitchen hand wash is organic, vegan, and contains organic, nourishing ingredients like coconut and sunflower oil, as well as eucalyptus, may chang and rosemary.

Emma’s Soap Bars

My mum bought be some Emma’s soap a while ago because she had heard it was good for people with eczema, and I love it! All of the soap is handmade in Devon, and each bar is wrapped in cloth that can be reused making it eco-friendly and sustainable. The unscented bar is made from avocado oil (avocado oil helps to regenerates skin cells whilst softening skin), olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, and beeswax, and is gentle enough for those with sensitive skin. Emma also sells large boxes of offcuts which are super budget-friendly and economical, and great for buying during the COVID-19 outbreak when soap is selling out everywhere!

Neal’s Yard Remedies Hand Wash

You already know that Neal’s Yard Remedies is one of my favourite organic skincare brands, but their Garden Mint and Bergamot hand wash is a definite treat for the hands. The formula is non-drying so your sensitive hands will say moisturised and hydrated even after use, and the hand wash is made from 82% organic ingredients. Like many organic products, this hand wash is on the pricier end of the spectrum, but it’s well worth it to protect your skin.

Dr Bronner’s Soap

Dr Bronner have been producing soap for over 100 years, so they know what they’re doing. Heck, forget COVID-19, they’ve been around since before the Spanish Flu! They produce organic soaps with simple ingredients perfect for those with sensitive skin and eczema, with both liquid soap and traditional hard soap. It’s also useful to have a big bottle of their liquid soap on hand anyway, as it’s multi-use so you can use it for a variety of uses if you run out of other products if the UK goes into lockdown or you’re in self-isolation!

BUY: Traditional hard soap 140g / Liquid soap 237ml

NEOM Hand Wash

Now this really is a luxury hand wash! I adore NEOM candles, but their hand wash smells just as good as their candle range. The hand wash is made with 70% certified organic ingredients, and contains seaweed and pomegranate to gently cleanse, along with soothing aloe vera to soften skin. It’s 100% naturally fragranced with NEOM Real Luxury™ fragrance, with a complex blend including lavender, jasmine & Brazilian rosewood, purposefully blended to help bring a feeling of calm in these crazy times.

    Great article!

Handwashing is the first line of defense. That’s what my doctor would say. I personally use Dr.Bronner’s Organic Sugar Soap because I have sensitive skin. I love it because it’s very moisturizing and it has pleasant smell.

    Stay safe and healthy!

    Cheers!
