With the COVID-19 outbreak forcing everyone to wash their hands every time they touch anything, those who suffer from dry, sensitive skin and eczema started to experience increased instances of dry skin and eczema flare-ups. Hopefully you’ll already be using an organic hand wash to limit your skin’s exposure to harmful irritant chemicals, but with limited availability of hand wash products and an increased need to wash your hands frequently, it’s difficult to be fussy and you need to prioritise your physical health over your skin.
One thing you can do to help with the dry skin and eczema flare-ups, is moisturise after each time you wash your hands, and regularly in between. I’ve personally been experiencing a really horrible eczema flare-up on the backs of my hands, so I thought I would tell you all about some of my favourite organic hand creams!
Balance Me Hand Cream
This is actually my go-to handbag hand cream! I keep it in my handbag at all times as I adore the scent and thickness. The Balance Me hand cream is award-winning and 100% natural, and uses a unique and uplifting blend of renowned ancient skin conditioners Benzoin and Yarrow Oils work together with smoothing, soothing Shea Butter and Kukui Seed Oil. It soaks in really fast so your hands don’t feel oily after using it, but is super thick and makes a big difference to your skin.
MooGoo Soothing MSM Cream
This is my go-to cream when my eczema flares up on my hands – it’s not officially a hand cream, but it’s a body cream that you can use anywhere on the body, and the MooGoo MSM Cream is super safe to use on children and babies! The cream contains 10% MSM (organic sulphur, which is a natural skin-soothing compound), Allantoin, Aloe Vera, Honey, and natural oils like Sweet Almond & Coconut Oil. It’s also free of Parabens and Phenoxyethanol as MooGoo use natural Hops Extract as a preservative instead! It works a treat on eczema flare-ups and is perfect for when your skin gets really dry from all the Coronavirus hand washing.

Sukin Hand & Nail Cream
Sukin is one of my favourite organic skincare brands, so I keep their Hand & Nail Cream pump bottle on my desk at work (which sadly has been left there due to the unexpected ‘work from home’ email that went around due to the Coronavirus outbreak). They’re an Australian brand who don’t use any mineral oils, sulphates, or parabens in their products, and they’re natural, vegan, cruelty free, and carbon neutral! Their Hand & Nail Cream is a non-greasy, light cream that protect dry hands, with the key ingredients of Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and Borage Oil leaving hands feeling nourished, soothed and soft!
Neal’s Yard Remedies Bee Lovely Hand Cream
This is an organic hand cream I used to use all the time as my handbag hand cream, but haven’t been using much lately just because I’ve been using the Balance Me one (I love switching products around so I don’t get bored with the scent). It’s a really gorgeous hand cream though and smells incredible as it’s made with moisturising, fair trade organic honey from Mexico and sun ripened Italian and Mexican oranges, meaning it conditions the skin and will lift your spirits a little in the current COVID-19 crisis. In addition, 3% of sales from Neal’s Yard Bee Lovely range goes towards charities that protect the bees!

Dr Organic Manuka Honey Hand & Nail Cream
The Dr Organic Manuka Honey Hand & Nail Cream is part of my favourite Manuka Honey range from Dr Organic. It’s an organic intensive hand cream that combines the properties of active Manuka Honey with a complex blend of bioactive extracts, and has been specifically formulated to intensely moisturise the skin, penetrating through the epidermal layer and restoring dry hands for up to 12 hours. You can buy it from Holland & Barrett (and I recommend stocking up whenever they have their penny sales, where you can buy one product at full price and buy a second for just 1p!)

Keep moisturising to help your hands during the COVID-19 outbreak
I really hope this helps those of you currently suffering from dry hands and eczema flare-ups during the COVID-19 outbreak. It’s really important to keep your hands moisturised when you’re washing them so frequently, especially if you’re having to use harsh hand wash products that contain ingredients that irritate the skin.
